About Us
The Bright Side Community Newspaper was first published in March, 1992, with a commitment to our community of only publishing positive news about our area, including stories about our schools, churches, youth sports, civic groups, and upcoming special events. Our first paper was eight pages and our mailing was to 12,000 homes in Kennesaw and Acworth - because that is all there was. And it happened because several members of our business community believed it could!
Eighteen years later The Bright Side Newspaper is still a community newspaper filled with positive news and community events for our readers that live, not only in Kennesaw and Acworth, but also in Marietta/Powder Springs, Smyrna/Vinings and South Cobb. These five community newspapers, published each month, reach over 100,000 homes by direct mail.
A True Community Newspaper
By definition, The Bright Side Newspaper is a true community newspaper with approximately 50% of our pages devoted to editorial space. Over 90% of our stories are submitted by our readers and our advertisers. Ray Rhoades, CPA, owns the record for the most articles submitted- faithfully sent each month since our first publication in 1992.
Many of our advertisers who started with us in 1992, are still with us today: David Grant, State Farm; Ballard Chiropractic Clinic; Balloons By Bernadette; Raymond D. Rhoades, CPA; R. J. Patel, Windsor Inn; The Big Shanty Festival; - many more have come on board and stayed - starting their advertising with us as they started their business.
Giving Back to The Community
When a business advertises with the Bright Side, not only are they promoting their business, but they are giving back to the community. For every ad space purchased provides the same amount of space for a story, an article or a community event.
We value our readers, writers and advertisers because without their support and confidence there would be no publication. We want to especially say THANKS A MILLION to all of you in our communities - for all of your support since 1992!
