FRI MAY 11 MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS SIP N STROLL. 5:00 pm. For this Sip n’ Stroll, we will stroll around the Marietta Square’s Glover Park and adjoining streets. Certified arborists and landscape architects will lead the tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the many treasures and challenges that exist among our valuable stock of trees. Location is Marietta Square’s Glover Park and we will meet at 50 North Park Square, Marietta, GA 30064. FRI MAY 11 MARTINIS AND MUSIC 5:30-8:30 at Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, 30 Atlanta Street, Marietta. The cost of admission will be ten dollars, with the exception of members who will enter for free. The event aims to create a fun and light atmosphere while enjoying American art and benefiting the local community. There will be a cash only bar with light hor d’oeuvres. An art auction will be held to benefit Hickory Hills Elementary. All of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to Hickory Hills Elementary to help benefit the needs of students.

FRI/SAT MAY 11-12 SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL. The Barbecue season kicks off the year with one of the first competitions in north Georgia. More than 30 teams will fill Cauble Park in downtown Acworth on Friday May 11, from 5:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday May 12, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and free parking can be found downtown with free shuttles running Friday night for the concert and all day Saturday. Cauble Park and Lake Acworth has to be one of the most beautiful venues in our area - what better place to hold a family friendly backyard, BBQ competition. This is the Rotary Club of North Cobb’s 9th Annual Smoke on the Lake in partnership with the City of Acworth. VISIT www.brightsidenews.com/kennacwnews.html.

SAT MAY 12 SWIFT CANTRELL 5K -Downtown Kennesaw. The fun begins at 7:30AM with the 1 Mile Fun Run. At 8:00AM the 5K Run/Walk. And at 8:55AM - Tot Trot. The early registration fee is $25. $30 starting May 1 and $35 cash the day of the race. Register online https://kennesawgrandprix.com/.

TUES MAY 15 MARIETTA COUNCIL OF GARDEN CLUBS OPEN HOUSE. 6:30 PM. The Marietta Council of Garden Clubs will host a wine and cheese open house, “How to Seed a New Garden Club”. This free event is open to all community members on Tuesday, May 15th and will begin at 6:30 pm at the Marietta Educational Garden Center, 505 Kennesaw Avenue, Marietta, GA, 30060. TUES MAY 15 KBA Alive After Five - 5:30 PM-7:30 PM event in the parking lot of our sponsor Hester Dental in downtown Kennesaw.  With catering provided by Carrabba’s, you won’t want to miss this chance to mingle with other KBA members and friends.

FRI SAT SUN - MAY 18-20 MARIETTA GREEK FESTIVAL You’ll pick up the scent of delicious Greek dishes as your palate is tempted by heavenly Greek pastries. Your ears will perk up at the live music, while your eyes gaze upon the authentically costumed dancers as they perform in the South’s only Greek amphitheater! Inside the Agora (marketplace), you’ll have a unique shopping experience courtesy of a multitude of merchants. Outside, your children can participate in various games, activities and crafts in the Kid’s Area. Niko’s Pub offers adults the opportunity to quench their thirst with Greek wine, beer, and liqueur, and the new Greek Street Food tent offers delightful portable food options. SAT MAY 19 SUPRA BOATS PRO WAKEBOARD TOUR - Dallas Landing from 8:00 till 5:00 pm. The event will be packed full of water-sports action! Immediately following the event, riders and fans will head over to Downtown Acworth for the Wakeboard Block Party from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.! SUN MAY 20 SILENT MOVIES ON THE SILVER SCREEN. Wings (Sunday, May 20, 2018 @ 3:00 PM)  Featuring live accompaniment by Ron Carter on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ  The first feature film to win an Academy Award for Best Picture, Wings is a 1927 silent classic that tells the story of two men (Buddy Rogers and Richard Arlen) in love with the same woman (Clara Bow). After the U.S. enters World War I, both join the Air Corps to fight in France and their rivalry grows into a wary friendship once they become fellow fighter pilots. Will the girl tear apart their friendship? Live organ pops variety show and sing-along at 2:30 PM. SAT MAY 18-MAY 28 SHRINE CIRCUS. The largest Shrine Circus and Fair in North America is back for its 76th year! The Circus Midway will be on the grounds of Jim R. SAT FRI May 25- Electric Avenue-80’s MTV experience; May 26-Symphony on the Square - Orchestral Pops music; Personal tables and plastic ground coverings are not permitted in the park, however they may be set up on the street after 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner (beer & wine is permitted) or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square. SAT MAY 26 MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY Acworth's Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Veterans Day will be presented at the event.
